Course Aims
If you are a user of Microsoft Word 2007, you may be struggling to understand the concept of the Ribbon Bar. Using earlier versions of Microsoft Word, you may been familiar with how to accomplish many tasks you needed to do, but you don't know where these options are located within the 2007 release.
In addition to learning about the specific features with Microsoft Word, the course participants will learn how best to use the JAWS screen-reader to good effect.
To participate in this course, you should have a good knowledge of working with the Windows operating system, using the JAWS screen-reader and you should be familiar with elementary word processing techniques such as how to select and copy text. All topics are delivered from the perspective of using Microsoft Word as a blind person where shortcut cuts are used exclusively throughout.

- Getting to know the Microsoft Office 2007 Ribbon Bar and reading the Super Tooltips
- Improving the view and removing screen clutter
- Using the Open and Save Dialog Boxes efficiently
- Converting Microsoft Word .doc files to the new .dox format
- Working with the Page Setup Dialog Box
- Creating documents sections, headers, footers, page breaks, page numbers and more
- Selecting text and using the Office Clipboard
- Finding text and moving to specific pages
- Ensuring documents are read correctly by JAWS
- Using JAWS Navigation Quick Keys
- How to use tools for Spelling and Grammer checking
- Inserting Footnotes and Endnotes
- Creating and reading tables correctly
- Applying font style, size and colours the accessible way
- Working with paragraphs and alignment
- Using bullets and numbering
- Being creative with Mail Merge
- Collaborating on documents with Revision/Track Changes
- How JAWS interacts with Outline View

Participants will be able to demonstrate the competent use of JAWS for Windows within the Microsoft Word 2007 environment.
