Hearing Assessments and Hearing Aid provision
If you are concerned about your hearing contact us on 08452 30 30 15 to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing or to arrange for an appointment to have your hearing assessed.
It is advisable but not essential to have first visited your GP if only to ensure that your ears are not blocked with wax before the consultation.
The assessment of your hearing system will take an hour to an hour and a half and will involve:
- Discussing your hearing difficulties, lifestyle requirements and medical history.
- A thorough examination of your auditory canal.
- A hearing test, comprising of listening for pure tones by air conduction and bone conduction, will establish levels in both ears.
- Speech testing to measure speech understanding.
- A full explanation of your hearing loss, evaluation and requirements will be given.
- It is also important to have the support of your family to deal effectively with hearing loss and effective use of hearing aids, it is therefore important to have a close family member or friend with you at the consultation.
- If you need to be referred back to your GP following the assessment of your hearing this will be done only with your permission.
Where will the hearing assessment take place?
Normally this will be at our offices in Trentham. These are on the ground floor with easy access and free parking outside. We are normally open from 9.00am to 5.00pm but we can arrange to see you in the evening or on a Saturday morning.
If you have problems accessing our offices because of disability or illness we can arrange to see you at home
Our home visit service aims to bring a much needed service to those who are unable to attend our offices. Your hearing test will be of the same type and quality as that carried out at our offices.
If you purchase hearing aids from us, your fitting and subsequent follow-up appointments can all take place at home too.
