Infotech - March-May 2011

The focus of the magazine is daisy content, players to support it and its delivery.

We begin with an in depth look and demonstration of RNIB's Bookstream service, allowing books to be streamed to a computer and played using the Net Plextalk player. Brian also talks about searching for books, managing your bookshelf and ordering CD's of the books for playing on a portable device.

Speaking of CD-based DAISY players, Brian next talks to Gerry Chevalier about the new range of Victor Reader Stratus players, their launch has just been announced by Humanware. We have a good overview of the features and talk about DAISY Online, a project developed by the DAISY Consortium to deliver books over the internet to compatible players. Gerry has a good knowledge of how this all works so you will hear from him about that.

Finally, Anna Dresner demonstrates InDAISY, an application for using DAISY books and publications on an iPhone. This is a first class very comprehensive demonstration of the application.
