Nuance Accessibility Suite Nuance TALKS Nuance ZOOMS Installation Guide I. Preparation To install this software package, you need: 1. The Nokia PC Suite for your handset. You can download its most recent version from http://www.nokia.com 2. A USB cable, like the one that is supplied with newer Series 60 devices, or a Bluetooth or infrared adapter for your PC or notebook, whatever type of connectivity is supported by your actual handset. 3. If you would like to use text-to-speech output (TALKS), you need a speech module for your language: Eloquence*.sis for Eloquence text-to-speech; rsm*.sis for RealSpeak Mobile pb*.sis for PocketBabil If you would like to use multiple TTS engines, you have to contact your TALKS reseller to buy a license for an additional language/TTS. You can also install additional languages at a later date. 4. The file "talks60*.sis" for installing Nuance TALKS and/or Nuance ZOOMS. 5. A PC or notebook for performing the actual intallation. II. Installation 1. Connect your handset to the PC or notebook. The easiest way to setup a connection is to use the USB cable that is supplied with newer Series 60 devices. Infrared, and in particular Bluetooth, is somewht more difficult to setup, but are required for devices that do not come with the USB cable. 3. If a previous version of TALKS is installed on your handset, you should now deactivate it, by starting "TALKS Off" or "Stop TALKS" from within the phone's main menu. TALKS&ZOOMS Version 2.5+ integrates an option to turn it off into the TALKS&ZOOMS Settings application's options menu. 4. Start Windows Explorer, and select the file to install, in this case, the selcted text-to-speech mobule. Press the Enter key to confirm your selection, then again, to confirm that you indeed want to install the .sis file. 5. After the .sis file has been transfered to the handset, you have to continue the installation on the device itself for newer handsets. For older phones, you can complete the installation on the PC. During the installation, you only have to press [Key 1], except when selcting the place to install to; we recommend that you choose to install to your memory card. 6. Execute steps 4 and 5 for the TALKS&ZOOMS installer as well. Again, you can press [Key 1] in most cases, but you should select to install to the memory card, and in case you would like to use multiple display languages for your handset, you should make sure that "Automatic language switching" is checked by pressing the joystick, before continueing the installation. 7. If you use speech output, TALKS should start to speak right after the installation. 8. To use TALKS and/or ZOOMS for longer than 10 minutes after rebooting the handset, you need a demo or a full retail license. You can request a 30-day demo by starting the TALKS&ZOOMS Settings application, then pressing [Key 1] (Options), and selecting "Register" / "30 days demo". This sends a text message to request the demo license. In case SMS registration does not work for your country or network provider, you should register manually with one of our dealers. A list of dealers can be found here: http://www.nuance.com/talks/dealers.asp You can find out more on Nuance TALKS and Nuance ZOOMS by reading the manual for the Nuance Accessibility Suite.
